Early Morning Painting CAN annoy your painting comrads

It was an extremely early morning as we trudged our way to the lake to paint this piece. The sun did not dissappoint- it hit the mountain and Hallett lit up like it was on fire- painted at Rocky Mountain National Park.

I was a a dawn painting kick and my plein air friends were good natured in rising up early to paint with me, but I noticed a few comments like... there IS Alpen Glow in the evening as well isn't there? By the end of the summer we were all exhausted on our painting trips from trying to be in the landscape by at least 5:30 to get set up and ready to capture that special time of the day.

"Hallett Peak at Dawn" will be at the Western Light Invitational in Estes Park at Earthwood Collections - reception August 23 from 6 to 9. I really loved painting this - my brushes were moving so fast that I didn't have time to think- it was a purely reactionary painting.

Please visit the gallery for the show- it should be a great- there are fantastic artists in this gallery and Ann and Ron (Earthwood Gallery) always put out a great spread for the reception.

I will have 6 more paintings in the show- all of the Rocky Mountain National Park Region.
