This was painted in very cold weather, definitely a challenge of painting in adverse conditions. Sometimes when a painter gets focused on relaying the view onto canvas, it is easy to not notice the frozen toes and fingers as hindrances, but when finished, all of a sudden the discomfort comes to the forefront and one can realize that they need to get inside quickly! I lost the top to my turpentine can and it took a week of melting snow and little prayer to find the right spot to dig up the place where it was hidden.
