Back from Santa Fe

Early Morning Vista 12x16

The Santa Fe Plein Air event was again, a wonderful and enlightening trip.  Peg Immel, Sarah Turner, and I stayed at Nancy's Silvia's house again- and were spoiled by our hosts, Nancy and Hiroshi..

Nancy lives north of Santa fe in the La Tierra area , we ended up staying closer to her house to paint this year than we did in the past.  The above painting is just a small road close to  La Tierra on the ranch road.  Sometimes when there is quite a few painters, it is hard to make a decision but this place wasn't the case. We jumped out and everyone was happy with their result.

I noticed a lot more humidity in the air when we were painting than at home if you can imagine that. Santa Fe isn't really known for humidity, but the distance was vexing to me, I was having difficulty with a distant color that normally I never have to mix-kind of a teal/ bluish color... although I wasn't eactly happy with the distances portrayed, I was relatively happy with the painting.

Next post- Diablo Canyon...
